In 2023, Shubman Gill dominated the opposition with 890 runs at a strike rate of 157.80, including three hundreds. With a strike rate exceeding 140, the 22-year-old No. 3—who finished the game with the highest score of 96 (47)—scored his runs. For someone who is only participating in their second IPL season, not bad.

Why the IPL will go to them

Gill, Saha, and Sudharsan make up the formidable top three for Gujarat Titans. Last season, all three players amassed at least 350 runs, with Gill and Sudharsan surpassing 140. They also have access to players like Matthew Wade, Vijay Shankar (who scored 301 runs at a 160.10 strike rate last year), Miller, and Kane Williamson, so the power doesn’t end there.

They also have two excellent spinners from Gujarat Titans in Rashid and Noor Ahmad, who combined for 43 wickets last year, and Mohit Sharma, who took 27 wickets in the final overs of the 2023 campaign, who is a solid speed option in the middle and death overs.

They aren’t as good as they were in past years, but they are still excellent across the board (for reasons we’ll discuss).
